Chinese Students & Scholars Association: Vice President

Dear fellow students,

I’m Apollo Yang, current CSSA Chief Secretary. This year, I delivered our Mid-Autumn mooncake activity and helped lead Imperial’s Chinese New Year Celebration together with CGCU. I’m running for Vice President to focus on one thing: making CSSA active again—through dependable delivery and transparent coordination.

  1. Concrete Events

Within the Vice President's remit, I’ll focus on a small number of high-impact activities:

    • Chinese New Year season: support the Gala, plus one warm, low-barrier community event (e.g., dumpling night / lantern workshop) to include people who don’t perform

    • Academic & newcomer support: one “Imperial study & life Q&A” welcome session (especially for undergrads/new arrivals), with practical signposting and peer sharing

    • Career & alumni: alumni panel + CV/Interview clinics
    • Improve execution: volunteer checklists, rehearsal/venue schedules, and risk-aware planning so events don’t collapse at the last minute.
  2. Transparency

CSSA must rebuild trust and reputation through its actions and transparent conduct. If elected, I will:
    • Help implement clear approval and spending workflows (who approves what, and when)

    • Publish short, member-facing updates (what we decided, what’s next, and who to contact)

    • Push for post-event summaries (attendance, outcomes, and key spending categories)

    • Maintain a simple feedback channel with guaranteed follow-up

If you want a Vice President who prioritises integrity and delivery, I’d be honoured to earn your vote.

Sincerely,
Apollo Yang
