Taekwondo: ITF Captain

I’m not going to pretend everything is fine.

We drill patterns a lot.

For experienced people, that’s fine. They’ve already been in fights.

But for beginners, that’s all they get.

Then months later, when they’re under real pressure on the competition mat, they’re not ready.

That’s not their fault.

That’s ours.

Some assume that because I’m a colour belt, I don’t understand hierarchy or tradition.

That’s wrong.

I understand discipline and rank. I earned a black belt in Kung Fu. I know what it takes to reach the top, and the responsibility that comes with it.

Respecting rank does not mean avoiding hard conversations.

This year, there has been a clear disconnect between committee and members. Decisions have felt top-down and conversations closed.

I will work with the next committee to ensure decisions are transparent and members feel heard.

You all know how I fight. Reckless. Massive ego. Aggressive. I dictate the round (unless it's Ari). But martial arts isn’t ego, it’s control under pressure.

Right now, we train safely. We need to train seriously.

I’ve medalled in WT and won ITF University World Championships and Student Nationals. I know what both styles demand.

As ITF Captain, I will work to:

• Integrate ITF-style training more consistently into club sessions
• Make sparring foundational, not optional
• Raise intensity and expectations across training
• Build fighters who impose and adapt
• Keep communication open and connected between members and committee

We don’t need more choreography.

We need standards. And we need unity.
