Note to voters: Description of candidate acceptable.
Hi, you probably already know me, but if you don't (how could you, I'm so fun (´•╭╮•`) ), I'm Alex and I'm running for (Qu)Ordinary Committee Member for 2026/7 (::67 hand thing::).
QuizSoc's doing pretty well right now, our finances and the number of people seem solid at the moment, so I'm happy to make it my mission to support the other committee members in keeping the society ticking along next year, but that's not to say I don't have any ideas:
- I think we need to make an even more concerted effort to get new people in next year; the taster sessions were a good idea this year, and I think the way forward is to run one or two more, while making sure we advertise stuff like novice tournaments (and the first UC watchalongs?) more widely.
- I think we could run a free group chat for the first few weeks and give people the chance to give Quiz more of a shot without paying our (by no means extortionate(!), but still) membership fee.
- If we've got the numbers, running an in-house (maybe Imperial only?) tournament with some HS/1 dot packets might be a good way to get people involved from the start.
- Keep the socials (Insta) running!
- Lastly, and most importantly, I'd like to announce that I will attempt to get a load of pizza in at some point.
