Rayan Lutufullah
My name is Rayan, and I'm a 2nd Year running to be next year's Neurology Conference Chair. From being excited about learning about Grey Matter at GCSE to attempting to research regenerative medicine in the brain in sixth form, I have always been interested in neuroscience. My interest developed through my neurosurgery placement, where I saw the clinical and academic impact of the field firsthand, learning how truly transformative the field is, and meeting unbelievably inspirational figures, which is what I hope the Meeting of the Minds Conference can do for others.
Through my roles in ISOC and Muslim Medics, including securing sponsorships, and organising events for disability awareness, I have developed strong organisational and professional communication skills, and I understand the importance of clear planning and teamwork in delivering successful conferences. I am also currently organising a Disability Inclusion Hackathon and contributing to a research-focused conference at Imperial, which has given me practical experience coordinating speakers, managing logistics, and delivering academic events.
It's very apparent that from first hand experience that Meeting of the Minds already offers excellent keynote talks, hands-on workshops, and student research opportunities. As Conference Chair, I would focus on building on these strengths by:
• Expanding clinically relevant workshops, such as neuroradiology interpretation and neurological examination teaching
• Strengthening student research involvement through expanded presentation opportunities and structured feedback
• Improving accessibility for early-year students through more introductory and career-focused sessions
• Ensuring strong organisation, communication, and sponsorship support to maintain the conference’s high standards
