Oluchi Akosa
Hello everyone,
I'm Oluchi, and I'm running to be your Neuro Conference Chair. I've always been super passionate about neuro - both clinically and through actively pursuing research opportunities. Having attended the conference before, I've seen firsthand how impactful it can be. Now I want to lead it and make it even better.
Alongside passion, I bring experience. This year, as ICSMSU Academic Officer for Early Years, I organised the ICSMSU CPA Mocks in collaboration with 4 other societies, delivering a large-scale event for almost 300 students. I've also supported conferences, including being a Personnel Officer at the MWF International Women in Surgery Conference and as a Workshop Lead at the 2025 Pyschiatry Society Conference. As the current Neuro Society Publicity Officer, I understand how to engage students and build interest. Together, these roles have given me a diverse and practical skilllset in leadership, logistics, teamwork and communication.
If elected, I plan to:
- Ensure every delegate has a smooth experience, from registration to closing remarks
- Broaden the scope of talks including topics like neurotechnology and explore neuro-subspecialities
- Prioritise meaningful networking opportunities so connections with speakers can become long-term mentorships
- Deliver interactive workshops, including practical guidance on pursuing clinical and academic careers in neuro
- Spark interest in the conference early on in the year through consistent promotion, teaser content and pre-conference engagement to ensure students feel invested in the event
My vision is simple: deliver a seamless, diverse and inspiring conference. Vote me for Conference Chair!
