Cardiovascular: Cardio BSc Representative

The transition from Year 3 to Year 4 is one of the biggest shifts in medical school, and the Cardiovascular BSc brings a new level of independence, academic depth, and research focus. My name is Prachur and hopefully as your future BSc Representative, my aim is to ensure that every student feels prepared, supported, and confident throughout this year.

To ease this transition, I will organise an introductory tutorial at the start of the BSc, clearly outlining what the year entails — expectations, assessments, timelines, and how to approach project selection strategically. Starting informed makes a huge difference.

Academically, I plan to run focused tutorials across the three core modules: data management and interpretation, the case report poster and oral presentation, and writing the final research project as a scientific paper. These sessions will provide practical guidance, clarify marking expectations, and equip students with the skills needed to excel.

I also plan to establish a Cardiology Journal Club, creating a supportive platform for student-led discussion of BSc-related topics and previous project titles. This will strengthen critical appraisal skills, build confidence in presenting, and foster intellectual curiosity within our cohort while also creating a bridge between older and younger years.

Finally, I want to encourage early engagement in cardiovascular research. Cardiology remains at the forefront of medical innovation and will continue to shape the future of medicine — and we should feel empowered to contribute to that progress. I am committed to building a confident, collaborative, and forward-thinking Cardiovascular cohort.
