Malaysian: Events Officer

Hello everybody!!! My name is Soo Ee Ern, known otherwise as Asher and I am running to be your Events officer for the term 2026/7 (67..?).

Studying foreign country is never easy; transitioning into adulthood, living alone, finding your own comfort circle and managing responsibilities. It is very easy to feel overwhelmed, through ICUMS events I found time and a place to unwind, as well as my circle and my friends, which I am always grateful for. Therefore I would like to give back to ICUMS by organizing many more fun and exciting events tailored for incoming freshers as well as seniors.

As your events officer, I will expand on current existing events as well as hosting new and exciting events for everybody. Here are some existing ideas I have in mind.

Regular Potluck/ Board Game Nights
Valentine Anonymous gift giving
Pub Quizzes (just a name for it, does not have to be in a pub)
Organize Meetings and Potlucks for Seniors
Welcome Picnic in Hyde Park
More Frequent Buddy Family Events
Frequent Meetups in Malaysia (Sports, Mamak and coffee chats etc)
“Dunk Your Committee” (pay-to-dunk fundraiser!)

I aim to improve enjoyability and inclusivity, and I hope these proposed events reflect so.

I will also build upon existing events to improve their quality. Through negotiation and effective resource allocation, I will maximise value to deliver more activities for events while staying within budget.
