Ophthalmology: Marketing

Hi I’m Saba, a 2nd year, and I would love to be your marketing (publicity) officer for ophthalmology!

Ophthalmology is a speciality which represents a unique balance of surgery, evolving technology and meaningful patient outcomes. From microsurgery to AI-assisted imaging and diagnostics, it is a rapidly evolving field. Ophthalmology also offers the opportunity for global and humanitarian work, restoring eyesight and exponentially transforming the quality of life in resource-limited areas. The combination of these things, cemented by attending ophthal webinars and events, are what draws me to the speciality.

As marketing officer, my aim is to make ophthalmology visible, accessible and engaging for students at all stages of their medical journey. This includes eye-catching promotional content, consistent and visually strong social media content across all platforms, ensuring events and material are communicated early.

Beyond promotion, I want ophthalmology society’s content to be meaningful. This includes showcasing speakers, highlighting why particular ophthal developments matter, and sharing educational content (such as insight posts about the speciality) between events to keep curiosity sparked!

My previous experience of Marketing Lead through the muslim medics society (for the muslim medical conference) has equipped me with the skills in visual design, engagement and event promotion. I am organised, creative and attentive to detail.

My goal is to help grow the society’s reach, strengthen engagement and inspire students to look into what ophthal has to offer! 🔬🌍
