Hi everyone, I am Dallon Chon, and I am running for Academic Officer for the ICSM Oncology Society.
For many students, oncology is one of the most important topics we study, but it can also feel overwhelming because it brings together pathology, diagnostics, treatment, communication, and rapidly changing research. I want our academic programme to make that easier to engage with and more rewarding to learn 📚🧠.
If elected, my focus will be simple: useful sessions, relevant topics, and consistent delivery.
I want to help build academic events that students actually benefit from, whether that means revision support for core concepts, clinically focused teaching that links to real patient pathways, or sessions that introduce cutting edge oncology research in a way that is understandable and motivating 🔬. I also want to make sure our academic events are accessible to students at different stages, from early years building foundations to senior students exploring specialities and research careers 🎯.
I already have experience gathering student feedback and representing academic concerns as an elected Phase 1a Academic Representative, and I have worked within society committees to support academic events and speaker coordination. I understand that good academic sessions do not happen by accident. They need planning, communication, and follow-up.
I am running because I want the Oncology Society to deliver academic value consistently, not occasionally.
