Amanda Aalto
Hi everyone! My name is Amanda and I am applying to be the PHEM Welfare officer. I have loved being a member of PHEM this year, from the talks to the ambulance observer shifts it has been so eye opening and I have learned so much. I would be more than honored to take a more active role in the future as I am very passionate about pre hospital care. I have been an Emergency Medical Technician for two years which has been so rewarding and getting the opportunity to explore emergency care in one of the biggest emergency medicine systems in the world has been exciting and even eye opening at times.
I believe I am well suited to be a welfare officer because I believe I can be a friendly face for people to talk to about anything they may need to. Having had a lot of experience in emergency medicine, I have seen a lot of "worst days" and am familiar with what it might feel like to be on the other side of it. I hope to better the society and would be more than happy to serve as a liason and point of contact for feedback. If there is interest, I would be more than happy to organize welfare events aimed at creating a stronger community within the society and a stronger bond among its members because if I have learned anything from being an EMT it is that a strong support system is essential.
