Serra Yenilmez
Hello everyone,
My name is Serra, and I am a second-year Biological Sciences student excited to apply for the Marketing role at Women in SET.
Alongside my academic focus in biology, I am deeply interested in how scientific ideas are communicated, translated, and positioned to create real-world impact. This interest developed further through my involvement in the Plug and Play initiative, where I gained insight into startup ecosystems, innovation pipelines, and how strategic communication connects talent, ideas, and opportunity. I woule like to bring my learnings to my role in Women in Set
I am also particularly interested in science communication and the role they play in bridging science, healthcare, and the public. I believe effective marketing is about clarity, accessibility, and building trust. I would love to help promotoe events and contribute to ensure that events, opportunities, and achievements are communicated in a way that feels engaging, inclusive, and empowering.
As Marketing Officer, I would aim to create consistent and creative content that promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and strengthens community engagement. My long-term goal is to work at the intersection of science, innovation, and business, helping translate scientific discoveries into meaningful healthcare solutions. Developing strong communication skills is therefore central to my aspirations, and I see this role as an opportunity to practise those skills while contributing to a community that supports and uplifts women in STEM.
I would be excited to contribute by strengthening its voice and helping build an inspired community of women in science, engineering, and technology.
