Hey! I'm Nilay, and I'm running for Industry Liaison Officer - here to Ni-lay the groundwork to more career opportunities for all of us. (Sorry, had to.)
I've spent time understanding what's worked and what hasn't for EESoc's industry side, and I have a clear plan to make it better.
The problems:
- We compete with DoCSoc for the same handful of sponsors - and often lose
- Sponsor relationships reset every year as knowledge walks out the door
- Admin and coordination between sponsors, the union, and our teams can slip through the cracks
My plan:
- Cast a wider net - alongside software and quant, I want to build relationships with companies that align with our diverse specialisms: semiconductors, robotics, FPGAs, power systems, IC design. EE is a broad course - our sponsors should reflect that
- Collaborate closely with incumbent committee to build a shared sponsor database so contacts, history, and deadlines carry over year to year - no more starting from scratch
- Use summer to get outreach moving early, and run regular check-ins with Events, the President, and the rest of EESoc so nothing gets missed
Beyond sponsorship:
- Work with Events to bring to life an EESoc Makeathon - hardware-focused, sponsor-backed, and uniquely ours
- More career-focused events: alumni networking, hands-on workshops, and better visibility for EE-specific opportunities by collaborating with the Careers Service
I'm always open to your ideas - if there's something you want from our industry partners, I want to hear it.
Vote Nilay with No Delay 💛 (Again, I'm sorry)
