CGCU: Communications Chair

Hey everyone! I'm Rodrigo, the current Guildsheet Editor for CGCU. I'm a second-year CS student who knows firsthand what it takes to make students actually feel connected to their union. Before you read the rest, check out the poster attached to my campaign!

As Communications Chair, I want to make sure every engineering student knows who CGCU is and what we offer. That means sharper, more consistent outreach, so no event, opportunity, or announcement goes unnoticed. I'll work closely with the communications subcommittee and support Activities and Wellbeing teams with publicity that actually reaches students.

My experiences make me the right person for this role. As the first Guildsheet Editor to publish in over three years, I rebuilt a communications channel from scratch — that takes initiative, creativity, and an understanding of what students engage with. I was awarded the John Elliot Bursary in recognition of that contribution, reflecting my commitment to going above and beyond. Beyond Imperial, I founded a Game Development and Competitive Programming Club, an Environmental Society initiative, and led multiple community-facing projects — each requiring me to build engagement and mobilise people around a cause.

Communication isn't just about posting updates, it's also about making students feel seen and included. I'll ensure CGCU's presence is felt across every department, every year group. I have received endorsements from CGCU President Daniel Zhuo, CGCU Education Chair Yuchen Liu, and others.

Vote Rodrigo for Communications Chair — your union should be impossible to ignore.
