Hi everyone! I’m Bari, and I’m running to be your ICSMSU Academic Officer for BSc Year. The BSc year is a major step in our degree, and I’m committed to making it more supportive, and more student‑friendly.
1. Clearer Communication & Assessment Transparency
Students consistently express uncertainty around assessment expectations. If elected, I will work closely with module leads to ensure:
- Clear, specific and standardised marking criteria released early.
- Worked examples and proper guidance that reflect how assessments are marked.
- Consistent information across Blackboard, handbooks, and teaching sessions.
- Assessment transparency ensuring that students understand how to achieve a first-class degree
2. Experience You Can Trust
As the MedED Year 4 Coordinator and academic rep for Endo BSc, I’ve already been working closely with students and faculty. I’ve also helped organise sessions specifically supporting the transition into the BSc year, and ran the MedED BSc Fair, giving students clearer insight into pathways, expectations, and opportunities.
3. Strengthening the New BSc Buddy Scheme
I will support the rollout of the new buddy scheme, being introduced by the current ICSMSU Academic Officer for BSc Year, by:
- Improving matching between students and buddies.
- Running regular, informal check‑ins and events to help BSc students feel supported.
- Ensuring the scheme is visible, approachable, and easy to access.
