Hello. I am Harshil, a 3rd year medical student who is registered blind.

The social model of disability states that disability is not the main cause of peoples difficulties within society but systemic failures are the major contributor. I agree with this definition to an extent and as such believe in educating people around disability and related topics such as health innovations to allow for powerful coproduction amongst key stakeholders within society. There are different ways of doing this, one of which is through social media. My current role as the community engagement officer for the Disabled students network has afforded me the opportunity to create posts around famous people with disabilities and the impact that they have had on the disabled community. By seeing how far we have come encourages us to keep going. This is just the start of what I had planned - I intend to create further posts around accessible travel in london along with beginners guides to accessibility and technology. I would also love to hear any suggestions on what people would like posted.
