Grace Wiggall
Disabilities Network Member
Hi everyone! My name is Grace, a current second year Geologist who is autistic. I would be delighted to represent my fellow disabled students by being your newest disability network member!
As a disabled person I am well aware of the hurdles that students face and the mental energy it can take to have to continually fight your corner for things that you are entitled to. I hope that in my role as network member I can help as many students as possible as well as bring awareness to the intersectionality of disabled identities.
My experience:
- 3 years experience with Girlguiding UK as a youth advocate campaigning for more awareness around neurodiversity as well as improved SEND support in schools
- Worked on 'inclusive assessments' student shaper project analysing the barriers that neurodivergent students face as well as pressuring the university to use more inclusive language surrounding disabilities
- guest speaking for imperial project 'student voices' about the accessibility of projects away from campus
- already an active member in union wellbeing and liberation forums
Why me?
- I am truly passionate about helping others
- my justice based autistic brain wants to see good outcomes for any injustices faced by students
- I am really cool ;)
My goals:
- Address any potential changes Imperial proposes that could affect disabled students
- work with the union to address financial barriers disabled students face
- Run a collection of events for disability history month
Now you've read this far, I hope that you can consider voting for me :)
