Amy Lloyd Evans
I’m Amy, a 4th year student and your current Union Disabilities Officer, running for re-election to the Network.
This year, I’ve worked to ensure your representation and active support. Among other things, I've worked across the following domains;
Community: I delivered a successful Disability History Month with 14 collaborative events, co-founded the new Disabilities Society, and am presenting a paper at the Activities Forum to ensure sports instructors receive disability-inclusion training and that teams have clearer systems for communicating accessibility needs.
Accommodation: implementing disability-informed training for hall wardens, while consulting on opposition to structural changes that may weaken support. I’ve also proposed improved housing support for disabled postgraduate students.
Education: Improving guidance on students’ rights under the Equality Act and working with the Library to expand access to bookable study spaces.
I’ve built strong foundations — but there is more to do. If re-elected, I will continue to advocate for you, including the following;
Accessible CSPs: Continue improving accessibility across clubs and societies by collaborating with the Union to gather accessibility data and working directly with CSPs to address barriers, including accommodating adjustments before students have to request them.
Accommodation support: Continue advocating for systems that reflect our needs, through high-quality training and feedback, and ensure changes to wardening structures do not weaken student safety or wellbeing.
Your rights: Continue working to provide clear, accessible information about the Equality Act and to educate faculty on their duties.
I'm committed to protecting your rights and securing equal opportunities for disabled students.
