Hi! I'm Garrison, a first year ecologist and the current Ethics and Environment Campaigns Officer.
So far this year I've been working on the sustainability of food on campus, reviewing what dishes are served and where their ingredients are sourced. Imperial policy is moving towards plant based catering, and we aim to make this transition smooth and affordable for all students. I've also taken part in many discussions on student finances, particularly on accomodation and bursary payments. I aim to improve sustainability within halls, setting up too good to go stalls where people can donate unwanted items.
If I am re-elected, I will continue to protect our green spaces on campus, ideally partnering with other environmental groups at imperial to introduce new green areas. Designating more space to wildflowers and encouraging more plant pot placements would also be a key target for this. I would also like to see more student involvement in sustainability, advertising best environmental practices while also making routes for suggestions from the student body clearer and more accessible. Additionally I aim to see more clubs and societal involvement in sustainability, particularly when it comes to reusing and recycling existing materials that they have access to.
Good luck for the rest of the year, if you ever have suggestions I have attached my instagram where you can contact me (there'll also be some campaign stuff there too).
ps. The cat is Spock, she likes being carried :)
