Make Science Loud.
Imperial is full of brilliant people.
But brilliance alone does not make a top university.
Imperial is not a top university. It can be — but only if we stop claiming it and start doing the real work: strengthening science, improving research culture, and communicating it clearly.
Prestige is not a ranking. Prestige is behaviour.
As RCSU President, I will focus on building a stronger scientific culture across the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
First, I will enhance science communication within departments. Seminars should be clear, engaging, and accessible — not rituals endured in silence. Strong internal communication strengthens understanding, collaboration, and confidence.
Second, I will expand interdepartmental exchange. Biologists should talk to physicists. Mathematicians should challenge chemists. Collaboration should be structured, not accidental. I will promote joint thematic events and interdisciplinary “Science Exchange” sessions to connect our communities.
Third, I will elevate the Science Challenge into a flagship showcase of Imperial science — increasing visibility, strengthening sponsorship, and ensuring participants receive meaningful feedback.
We will keep our traditions — Theta, Jez, the Kangela — but we will raise the standard of what scientific culture means.
Imperial can be exceptional.
Let’s stop announcing excellence.
Let’s build it.
Vote to make science louder.
