Hi everyone, I’m Anna, you may know me as this year’s DoCSoc Hackathons coordinator.

I know this course can be super tough and all the lecturers are super busy doing groundbreaking research, which is why we need to make sure you don’t end up with four coursework deadlines in one week. As someone who really values their sleep schedule, I would be extremely committed to making sure the workload is balanced throughout each term.

While we have some amazing industry connections, I think the department could really do better in helping its students better prepare for the job application process. In my first two years I knew practically nothing about applying to internships, so (unsurprisingly) didn’t land anything. After talking to lots of people and doing a bunch of research/leetcode in my third year I finally started to see more success. I think resources offered through the department to improve the skills required in job interviews would make the process so much easier for so many people.
