Mental Health: Welfare Officer

Hi! I’m JIAHUIZI (Jiahui) Peng, a second‑year student who simply loves helping people and building a warm, supportive community. I’m running to be your Welfare Officer because I’m approachable, empathetic, and organised—and I genuinely enjoy listening and getting things done. Friends know me as the person who checks in, follows up, and turns “someone should…” into “done,” while keeping things kind and confidential.

I’ll keep communication friendly and open: a quick weekly check‑in post, an anonymous suggestion/concern form, and casual drop‑ins so you can share thoughts anytime. I’ll respond promptly, bring your needs to the right teams, and report back clearly on outcomes—no jargon, just honest updates. I care deeply about inclusion and wellbeing: making sure every voice—home or international, neurodivergent or neurotypical, disabled and non‑disabled, carers, postgrads and undergrads—feels heard, respected, and supported. I’ll coordinate peer support circles around busy weeks, map and signpost support pathways (counselling, advice, crisis options), and run low‑pressure, no‑signup rest and study‑break sessions.

About me: I play violin (Grade 10), love team sports (ex‑girls’ football core member), and train artistic gymnastics (National Level 2)—so I value teamwork, resilience, and positive energy. I’ve hosted science outreach (Pint of Science) and volunteered as a youth mentor; these taught me to listen carefully, communicate clearly, and create welcoming spaces. Studying Maths has made me structured and calm under pressure—useful for triaging concerns, safeguarding privacy, and following through.

If you want a Welfare Officer who is present, kind, and action‑oriented, I’d be honoured to serve.
