Paediatrics: Community & Outreach Chair

Hi, I'm Zahra, and I would love to become your next Paedsoc Community & Outreach Chair. I have a strong interest in pursuing Paediatrics as a future specialty, an interest that deepened after attending this year's annual Paedsoc conference. I left the event motivated to explore the specialty further and I'd love to make a meaningful impact on this society.

I have enjoyed working closely with children for over three years - first as a teaching assistant at Kumon, and currently as a primary school tutor. Seeing my students progress and thrive in their learning has been incredibly fulfilling, being what first sparked my interest in Paediatrics. These experiences have equipped me with the ability to communicate clearly, work patiently and build meaningful connections with young people, skills I aim to employ within this role.

As Community and Outreach Chair, I will create fresh, impactful ways for students to engage with the wider community. This involves curating engaging, hands-on health education workshops in schools and creative outreach events in collaboration with youth centres and healthcare organisations. My goal is to expand Paedsoc's connections so we can raise awareness about children’s wellbeing in a fun and impactful way, while supporting initiatives that prioritise early intervention and inclusive, accessible care.

I’m sociable, collaborative and love working as part of a team. I believe that community is central to Paediatrics, and I’d be excited to reflect that in everything I do as part of the Paedsoc committee.

Thank you for your consideration.
