Sayanen Sawmynaden
Hi everyone, I’m Sayanen. I hope medicine is going well for everyone. With the end of freshers, I’m sure I’m not the only one seeing the actual medical course content piling up. It’s beginning to hit that we’re actually uni students who have to study. We’ve all been told uni will be a huge step up from sixth form, and everything, from the way we revise to the format of the exams will be completely different. As academic rep, I will be able to collect your opinions and your concerns about our medical course and feed back to senior faculty. I will strive to help improve the course by attending all of the regular meetings and being your voice to ensure that we, the students, are benefitting.
Having been head boy of my school, I have had a similar role, working closely with both teachers and students and relaying opinions about how the school is run. During my time in the role, I oversaw the introduction of whole school assemblies aimed at delivering information and celebrating student achievements. This was a challenging task, however, by discussing plans with the head teacher, we were able to iron out the creases. I will be able to transfer the skills I have learnt from this experience to the role of academic rep, discussing issues with faculty to ensure our best interests are taken into account.
Working with the rest of the academic representative team, I will make sure that every voice is heard.
