Malisha Karunaratne

Hi we are Malisha and Amelia and we would love to run for Community & Outreach Chair!

Having volunteered at PlayTeam for the last two years consistently, we have both thoroughly enjoyed our experience and we would both love to have more of a role within the society next year expanding it beyond the clinical setting. With mutual experience in tutoring, we are confident in supporting and talking to school-aged students and feel comfortable establishing relationships with local schools. Our involvement in tutoring for UCAT and interview preparation means we feel knowledgable in completing a successful medical school application and we are confident in organising and supporting other students to do this also.

Volunteering at the Red Cross and care homes, we are familiar with the logistical challenges of seeking volunteering opportunities and would love to make this easier for those hoping to apply for medical school in the future. Working with charities and organisations in the past mean we are confident with overcoming the challenge of securing sustainable partnerships and are familiar with the routes to do so.

We both look forward to PlayTeam every fortnight and we would love to integrate the impact of the society into the wider community !!!
