Regen Brown

Merhaba, ben Regen Sarp. I am a first year Biomedical Sciences student, though I am 23 so people are surprised to hear this! I am half Turkish and half English and was born and grew up in the UK. Feel free to call me Regen when speaking English and Sarp when speaking Turkish.

After attending a recent event of the Turkish society and meeting and socialisng with Turks of all backgrounds, I have realised that becoming social secretary is an excellent opportunity for me to reconnect with my Turkish roots and help others do the same.

I am determined to help Turkish freshers settle into Imperial and the UK as a whole, and I will ensure that the Turkish society is a place where all Turks at Imperial can feel at home while in the UK. Conversely I will ensure that Turkish diaspora at Imperial have the opportunity to regularly experience and engage with Turkish culture.

I believe that networking is one of the most important things for the Turkish society, and will ensure that the Turkish society more frequently organises events both with other societies here at Imperial, and with those at other universities. I will endeavor to connect the Turkish society with alumni and help to organise professional events with successful Turks in the STEM world.
