Hi everyone,
My name is Ricardo and I am currently a 2nd year student running for treasurer of CivSoc in the upcoming academic year.
Being part of CivSoc this year made me realise that money is the foundation of all events the society organises. This made me want to support CivSoc by ensuring good financial conditions, which will in turn provide quality events that will benefit all the members of the society.
The experience of being the current industrial liaison officer has taught me a lot. Dealing with sponsorships teaches me some knowledge of how the financial system works. By liaising with external parties and internal committee members helped me to develop my communication skills as well. On top of that, I learned how to be organized and multitask throughout the year while keeping track of the progress of each sponsor. I believe the knowledge and soft skills will aid me in taking on the role of treasurer.
Below are things that I would like to achieve upon being elected:
- Ensure accurate and efficient bookkeeping of all expenses and income.
- Produce a sensible budget plan such that each sector gets sufficient funds while ensuring quality events are being organised.
- Conduct necessary arrangements to collect payments from relevant parties.
- Liaise with relevant individuals to ensure financial viability.
