Hello! I am Emina, a Bioengineering MSc student and I am excited to stand as your next DPE!
Having always been eager to be a student voice, I have contributed to the community over the past 3 years by taking on CSP and Student Representative roles, allowing me to gain insight into what the student’s needs are.
My initiatives have directly impacted the student experience by improving availability and quality of Life Sciences social spaces as well as overseeing an increase in DepSoc sponsorship. My time in leadership has equipped me with the management skills to support students in making the most of their roles.
Bringing an understanding of the wider impact of College level policies from COVID times to the DPE role, I would leverage my past experience to:
- Standardise the Mit-Circ application process across departments, and ensure that MC criteria is inclusive of student’s needs, focusing on mental well-being.
- Introduce feedback guidelines for all assessment types.
- Lobby for Masters students to have the option to retake exams in the same academic year rather than default resits to the next.
- Empower students early on to make more informed career choices through varied career-focused Alumni panels with networking opportunities.
- Boost communication with DepRep Network via bi-termly check-ins and call for more communication between Faculty and DepReps.
