I want to be Welfare Officer because I really care about making sure everyone in the club feels comfortable, included and knows there is someone they can come to if something is wrong or they have any ICE. As it is a new role, I’d also like to help properly establish what Welfare Officer looks like within the club and make it a visible, useful presence rather than just committee title.

I’d make sure people know who I am and what they can come to me about, check in particularly with freshers as they settle into the club, while still making sure people across every year and team feel supported.

Having been Social Sec last year, I’m already used to being aware of how people are feeling on nights out, making sure people get home okay, aren’t being pressured into anything and keeping an eye out for anyone who might need a bit of support. I’ve also already spent a year on committee, so I understand how the club runs behind the scenes and would be happy to support the rest of the committee wherever needed.
