Hello, I am Marco and ICSM-PHEM has been a core part of my medical school. Joining PHEM in my third year, I have done over 300 hours with LAS, attended PHEM talks and participated in the MTP. Having served as secretary and welfare officer I know exactly what can take ICSM-PHEM to the next level.
This year, returning from my intercalation in Prehospital Care with London’s Air Ambulance, instead of gatekeeping, I am enthusiastic to share everything that I've learnt. From A to E assessment to major incident management. I want PHEM education to be practical, engaging and accessible to all. As your PHEM education officer, my manifesto is a simple ABC:
- Active Simulations - I want to bring PHEM to life through realistic, multidisciplinary simulations. These exercises will allow you to experience prehospital care from different perspectives not just as a clinician but as a bystander, police or even a patient.
- Bespoke Teaching - I aim to deliver high yield interactive teaching covering topics like airway management, trauma and resuscitation. The aim is simple, teaching that helps you in exams, on placement and in real life.
- Connections - Through my existing connections with the police and the ambulance service, I hope to bring opportunities to learn alongside the service we work with. Best patient care comes from multidisciplinary collaboration and not medicine alone.
I would be grateful to have your vote and together we can make PHEM not only academically valuable but practical and fun for every medical student. Thank you! 🚑
