Florence Babatope
I'm Florence, a first-year Mathematics with Statistics for Finance student, and I'm running for Head of Infrastructure & Web Development.
I enjoy building technical projects and working with data, with experience across Python, SQL, JavaScript, C++ and web technologies. I'm currently developing an independent data project using a continuously (automatically) updated dataset of over 200,000 observations, which has given me experience thinking about how data, code and usable interfaces fit together. I have also developed a view GUI projects, including a budgeting app in the past.
If elected, I want to make the Society's technical infrastructure more useful, reliable and accessible to members.
My priorities would be to:
- Improve the Society website, making it easier to navigate, keeping opportunities and events up to date, and creating a stronger showcase for the Society's work.
- Build a central project hub where members can discover projects, datasets, hackathons and technical resources.
- Showcase member projects, giving students a place to publish their work and making the Society's technical output more visible.
- Improve internal tools and workflows, reducing repetitive admin and making it easier for the committee to manage events, resources and communications.
- Make development collaborative, allowing interested members to contribute to the website and infrastructure while gaining practical experience.
I want our infrastructure to actively make the Society better for both members and the committee.
I'd really appreciate your vote.
