Hey everyone! I'm Defne, a third-year Physics student, and I'm running to be your Events Manager.

As someone not on a business degree, joining WiB has been a great way to explore career paths beyond my degree. WiB's events and connections open up so many opportunities after graduating, and I'd love to give back by helping organise them, so more members can find their way into business while having fun along the way.

My focus would be on three areas:

1. Exploring careers beyond your degree
I want to bring in firms and professionals from finance, consulting, tech, and beyond for panels, Q&As, and office visits, focusing on how students from any degree can break into these industries. Plus more chances to mingle with alumni and recruiters.

2. Building practical skills
From CV and cover letter sessions to interview and case study prep, I'd love to run sessions that make applications feel less stressful and more manageable.

3. More socials!!
WiB should be a place to make friends, not just contacts. Pottery, brunches, and pilates are great ways to socialize. Just fun stuff to take your mind off uni and career planning.

Why me?
Coming from a non-business degree, I know what it's like to start from scratch, so I'll make sure events are useful and welcoming for everyone. I'm always open to ideas, so if there's something you'd love to see, tell me!
