Samaira Bagla

Hi, I'm Samaira Bagla, a second-year Biochemistry student running to be the Creative Head for Indian Society.

London and college life can often feel fast-paced and overwhelming, but last year Indian Soc became my “home away from home”. Having experienced the magic of Friction, the Utsav Ball and Boat Party, I fully understand the essence of the society. It is not just a calendar of events, rather the biggest cultural force on campus, keeping our traditions alive and bringing people together. Having already experienced the thrill of attending these events, I would love to get involved behind the scenes and experience the thrill of curating similar experiences for others.

My goal would be to build upon this beautiful foundation and bring that ‘ghar wali feeling’ straight to everyone’s feed through marketing that captures the unique spirit of Indian Soc, and feels warm and welcoming to everyone!

To truly bring this vision to life, our digital presence has to be more conversational and interactive. I propose to introduce polls and Q&A broadcasts where members can vote on event themes, dress codes or drop any suggestions, giving everyone a voice in shaping our events. Further, ‘Day in the Life’ features and unscripted committee chats could give students an unfiltered insight into the society, making them feel more involved. Through these initiatives, I will help to make this year bigger, better and even more unforgettable!
