Hello! My name is Sam, and I am running to be part of the Estranged and Care Experienced Students (EaCES) committee for EaCES students within Imperial (and hopefully further)!

Approximately 14% of EaCE students aged 19 make it to university, compared to 47% students of the general population, making it more than 3 times less likely as an EaCE student, this stat drops further for Russel Groups (such as Imperial) to 2% against 27% of the general population.

Out of those that make it, the first year dropout rate is roughly 21% (against 11%) and EaCE students underperform by about 13% compared to non EaCE peers.

These statistics may sound daunting, however as a member of the EaCES committee, I intend to create a safer place for EaCE students and reduce barriers by aiding in creating events and building community amoungst EaCE students, aiding in student mental health, and ensuring policy change is possible for EaCE students. If you are an EaCE student and have a problem you would like addressed, I will help to change policy so this will be fixed!
