You should not have to struggle silently.
Hi everyone! I’m Yuehan Yang, a first-year EFDS student from southern China, running to be your Year One Wellbeing Representative. I enjoy tennis, singing in a choir and exploring Chinese tea culture. Whether over tea or a walk, I’m always happy to chat!
Starting university means balancing coursework, new friendships and career pressures. I want our year to be a community where asking for support feels normal.
Leading student teams and volunteering in rural schools and a school for children with disabilities taught me to listen carefully and respond to different needs.
My priorities are:
1. Someone you can approach
I will offer regular check-ins and an anonymous channel for general wellbeing concerns, listen without judgement and help you find appropriate professional support.
2. Support that is easier to find
I will share a concise guide to existing wellbeing, financial and academic support, explaining where to go and how to access it.
3. Connections without pressure
I will work with student organisers on affordable, relaxed coffee meetups and walks, helping students connect beyond lectures.
4. Action on shared concerns
I will gather feedback on workload, deadline clustering and university adjustment, work with Academic and departmental Wellbeing Reps to raise concerns, and report back on progress.
You can count on me to listen, take your concerns seriously and follow through.
Vote Yuehan for a more connected and supportive first year.
