Hannah Liu
Postgraduate Research Representation Chair
Hi everyone! My name is Hannah, and I'm a 1st-year PhD student in Design Engineering. I’m running for Postgraduate Research Representation Chair to advocate for the postgraduate research experience and put the needs of my peers first.
Having previously been the Postgraduate Taught Representation Chair, the Postgraduate Academic and Well-Being Officer for Engineering, and a Course Rep for my Master's program, I have:
- Identified and helped correct grade moderation errors within the EEE department. I urged the EEE department to correct a discrepancy between their grade moderation documents and the formulas they were using.
- Expanded shuttle bus availability past 5 PM. This made it more accessible to students with afternoon classes.
- Restructured the future curriculum for my course. These changes, such as switching when modules start, have already been implemented in this year’s cohort.
As your next PGR Chair, my aim is to:
- Bolster existing career postgraduate research opportunities. I want to collaborate with ECRI on hosting career panels across industries, connecting postgraduates with startups, and providing fellowship opportunities within early stage companies.
- Create peer support networks across departments. I want to help foster both cross-disciplinary academic collaboration and friendships, while also creating an accessible mental health support system in addition to official outlets.
- Establish a PhD application mentorship programme. We all know how daunting PhD applications are, so I want to start a programme where current Imperial undergraduates and Master’s students can connect with PhD students with questions about the process.
Vote for Hannah Liu, the candidate for you!
