Guillermo Adams

Council Representative (PG Business)

I’m Guillermo, a Management master’s student at the Business School, and this is my proposal.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve talked to many of you about our experience so far at Imperial. Despite our different programmes and backgrounds, many of us came to the same conclusion: part of our campus doesn’t feel as appealing as it should, especially compared to similar London universities. It’s time to change this! These are my three priorities, which I’ll champion and bring to Union Council:

  1. Better, cleaner spaces. From better maintenance of Queen’s Lawn, the social heart of campus, to new cosy study spaces, and proper cleaning where litter and empty glasses are a common sight. Our campus is the first impression visitors and students get, and it’s part of our brand: right now, it doesn’t quite reflect this university’s potential.
  2. Merchandise people actually want to wear. I’ll push for partnerships with Nike, Under Armour or The North Face for bags, T-shirts, jackets and sportswear, as other universities already do. Let’s wear Imperial with pride.
  3. A bigger, better gym. Hundreds of us use it every day, yet it’s small and overcrowded while other rooms sit underused. At the very least, we need to put pressure on College to use that space to expand it.

I honestly believe there is nothing wrong with Imperial that cannot be fixed by what is right with Imperial. Let’s start looking like the university we are.

Go Imperial!
