Biochemistry (UG): Year Two Wellbeing Representative

Trying to navigate university life with struggling mental health is like trying to eat soup with a fork!

Hi, I’m Vithu! First year caught me completely off guard. Between working full-time during so and also returning to study after a gap year, my mental health took a real hit, and I’m not ashamed to say it. I’d worked hard to get here, but I learned that effort counts for little when your mental health is struggling, and I often considered dropping out.

Around the January exams, I reached my limit. I’d never really asked for help before, but I knew that if I didn’t speak up, things would get much worse. Reaching out was one of the best decisions I’ve made, and it showed me how much support Imperial offers, from first points of contact to senior pastoral staff and mental health services. Many students don’t know how to access it.

That’s why I want to be your Wellbeing Rep. Wellbeing comes before everything else: financial struggle, grades, social life, even internships. Having felt misunderstood myself, I won’t claim to know exactly what you’re going through, but I can promise an honest ear and help finding the support that’s out there.

I’ll also work with the Academic Rep to add lighter moments between heavy lecture days, like snacks in the common room. And beyond anything rep-related, I’m always up for a chat, so come say hi!
