Izzie Veentjer
Hey, I’m Izzie, but by now, most of you probably already know me – if not feel free to come say hi! Mental health and wellbeing have always been something I’m passionate about, so I would be honoured to be your wellbeing rep – if you elect me, of course.
As medics, we are doing one of the most academically pressured courses out there, so it’s as important as ever to prioritise our mental wellbeing. Fresh out of freshers’ week, it’s now time to settle in – a task easier said than done. That's why, if you elect me, I will strive to make your life easier, from speaking to the years above for their top tips to liaising with academic staff on what can be done to make your life as an Imperial fresher easier – and also, fun!
Something I am keenly aware of, however, is that wellbeing is very much so a personal thing, which is why I would tailor my approach to your needs. As wellbeing representative, I will be here to represent you, my cohort, and as such, I want to hear your thoughts and suggestions! As I have previously mentioned, you should always feel welcome to come up and talk to me, no matter the issue. Despite this, I appreciate that not everyone will be comfortable with that, so I intend to implement bi-termly anonymous forms where you can give your feedback and suggestions.
I want you to feel seen, heard, and understood.
