Physics (UG): Year Two Wellbeing Representative

I'm Dhruv, and I'm standing to be your 2nd Year Well-Being Officer. Our seniors and professors have warned us that this is going to be an academically taxing year, but it is also one where social organization across the cohort may be most important!

Unlike this time last year, many of us have now established our core circles and decided which societies we belong to, which can in turn alienate physics students from one another. Moreover, mental health concerns, stress, and loneliness can feel like they're becoming debilitating if we don't know the channels to fix them. If elected, I pledge to:

  1. organize small-scale wellbeing events frequently: picnics, walks, game nights, and movie nights
  2. encourage international student gatherings as well as socials for the students on the Year Abroad program, facilitating cultural exchange and understanding
  3. publish a biweekly wellbeing newsletter to clearly signpost mental health resources, direct students towards extracurricular activities and developments in the field of physics, personal and professional opportunities for growth etc.

I've benefitted so much from the societies at Imperial and from the friends I've made within our year. I think it's fair to be proactive and ensure that Blackett remains a welcoming, accessible and active heart of the department and serves as a hub for enriching our year group. Vote for me if you want to see these programmes enacted!
