Physics (UG): Year Two Wellbeing Representative

Hey everyone!! I’m Qihan, and I’m running to be your Year 2 Physics Wellbeing Rep 😌

Last year taught me how difficult it can be to keep up with academic life. I caught freshers’ flu three times in a row and spent days struggling to talk or get out of bed. After that ended, I somehow overstretched a ligament in my knee while clubbing, and as pain from that was about to fully subside, I started having a month-long allergic reaction — all while balancing academics with a very active social life. I had to learn all of first term’s content within 2 weeks of the Christmas holidays.

Having experienced how easily your wellbeing can affect university life, I really want to look out for the rest of you when things aren’t going as you've planned. I’m often the mediator in friendship groups, and I’ve supported friends through some absurdly toxic situations. When friends confide in me, I tend to stay calm, take their perspective and give sensible advice instead of not knowing how to react. I want everyone to feel ease and comfort approaching me, no matter how serious, complicated or random the problem seems.

If elected, I’ll actually introduce myself by email so everyone knows who their Wellbeing Rep is and how to reach me! I’ll also familiarise myself more with Imperial’s support systems so I know where to direct you when something requires support beyond the scope of my role.

Vote Qihan for Wellbeing Rep! 💗🫶
