Mechanical Engineering (UG): Year One Wellbeing Representative
“Let me clear the ground to make room for your growth.”
Three weeks in, Imperial still feels brand new. We’re surrounded by new faces, and for many of us, a new city or country. Fresh starts can be scary, and that’s when wellbeing matters most, laying good groundwork and growing a supportive root system.
Hi, I’m Rae, 20, from Newcastle, San Francisco and North London. I’m chatty and love music, nature and meeting new people. A gap year working all over the world and travelling solo taught me to settle into the unfamiliar, just as we all are now, and to appreciate how much one friendly face can help. I can’t wait to bring that to ME1.
I’ll make ME1 a cohort where you feel:
Supported: We’re all being pushed out of our comfort zones academically, so everything else should feel manageable.
Part of a community: You’re not alone. I’ll set up regular social events, from coffee mornings, pub crawls, plus informal study groups.
An equal: Every voice in ME1 will be heard. I believe in women building women up and ran “girls in physics” at sixth form to support other students.
Easy to reach: I’ll always be contactable, by message or in person.
With me, expect an open ear. I’ll turn your thoughts, big or small, into action. You’re an integral part of ME1 and deserve to feel heard and supported. If elected, I’ll clear the ground, tend the soil, and help every one of us bloom.
