Third year can be an exciting but demanding time for Mathematics students. Between challenging modules, exam pressure, future career decisions and life outside university, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. I want to ensure student wellbeing remains part of the conversation.
Having experienced my own wellbeing struggles, I understand how important support can be during difficult times. I was fortunate to receive support when I needed it, and now I want to give back to my peers by helping create an environment where everyone feels heard and supported.
If elected, I will focus on three priorities:
1. Listening to students' concerns. I'll encourage accessible feedback on academic pressure, workload and wellbeing, and work to ensure recurring concerns reach the appropriate people.
2. Building a stronger community. With so many different modules this year, it's harder to stay connected with friends we once saw at lectures every day. I'd like to encourage informal opportunities for us to reconnect, share experiences and support one another in a welcoming, judgement-free environment.
3. Making support more accessible. I'll help signpost existing university wellbeing resources and support services, so students know where to turn when they need help.
I believe wellbeing starts with listening and taking people's concerns seriously. While I can't promise to solve every problem, I can promise to be approachable, open to feedback and committed to representing our year honestly.
I'd be grateful for your vote!
