Laura Mitchell
Hi, I'm Laura, a third-year Earth and Planetary Science student. I am running for Wellbeing Rep because I want to help make third year a more supportive, connected and manageable experience for everyone in Earth Science and Engineering. Third year can bring significant academic pressure through projects, deadlines, exams and decisions about what comes next, so I think it is important that wellbeing remains part of the conversation. I would aim to make support services more visible and accessible, provide opportunities for low-pressure social activities, and create a space where students feel comfortable sharing concerns or asking for help. I also understand the importance of finding a healthy balance outside of academics: for me, playing hockey is a great way to destress, take a break from studying and spend time with friends. I would like to encourage a similar balance across our year group and help create an inclusive environment where everyone feels supported, listened to and able to look after their wellbeing.
