Raluca Sabou
Hello everyone!
My name is Raluca and I am a first year chemist who wants to build an open, comfortable space in our department. Coming from a small rural town in Romania, I understand the importance of a tight-knit network. Additionally, I know how daunting settling into university can be. You’ve achieved something incredible just getting here, but when the excitement fades and imposter syndrome kicks in, the pressure can feel overwhelming.
Chemistry at Imperial is especially intense. The best part is that we don't have to figure it out alone.
As your Year 1 Wellbeing Rep, I want to make sure none of us tackle hardship in isolation. While our department offers formal pastoral support, I want to provide the familiarity and reassurance of a peer who shares most of your daily hurdles and can bridge the gap with staff.
If elected, I will push for equity and accessibility across all student backgrounds, while working to strip away unnecessary bureaucracy and make mitigating circumstances simple, transparent, and stress-free to navigate for all. I will also implement regular, anonymous forms to monitor workload stress, identify key pressure points throughout the academic year and communicate real student data to the department before burnout hits. Above all, I offer reliable, confidential, and non-judgmental representation whenever you need someone to listen, advocate for your needs, or help you find guidance.
No issue is ever too small so please reach out regardless of what you’re going through. Let’s look out for one another!
