Bioengineering (UG): Year One Academic Representative (Molecular Bioengineering)

Hi, I’m Haru, and I’d love to be your Year1 Bioengineering Academic Representative.

Starting university is exciting, but it can also be overwhelming: new lectures, new labs, new ways of learning. I want to make sure department hears your voice, and that problems get fixed rather than just complained about.

What I’ll do for you:

  • Be your voice. I’ll bring your feedback on lectures, labs, and assessments to staff-student committee meetings, and report back on what changed.
  • Make feedback easy. I’ll set up a simple way (like a short form) so you can raise concerns without feeling awkward.
  • Look out for wellbeing. I’ll make sure you know where to find support and raise workload concerns.
  • Make assessments less stressful. I’ll ask for clearer marking criteria, past-paper style examples and timely feedback, so you know what’s expected before you submit.

About me!

I’m a first-year Molecular Bioengineering student, so I’m dealing with the same lectures and deadlines as you. Before university, I was the leader of my school’s STEM club, where I organised activities and projects and kept the team motivated. I also served as my year group’s class representative, speaking on behalf of my cohort, gathering feedback from my peers and bringing it to the school leadership. These roles taught me how to listen, communicate clearly and turn feedback into real change, and I want to bring that experience to our year group here.

If you want someone approachable, reliable and ready to listen, I’d be honoured to have your vote.
