Studying Bioengineering at Imperial is indeed an exciting opportunity, which, as all new things do, comes with the issue of adjusting to the course, its workload, and the different teaching styles of lecturers. I want to make sure that despite the busy schedule and mountain of work, every student feels the feedback they have on the course is heard and taken into account. If elected, I shall focus on these three main points:
1. Communication. I shall make sure that it is easy for everyone and anyone to share feedback, suggestions, and/or concerns, whether that would be through a one-to-one, informal conversation, email, or feedback forms. I believe that everyone should have an opportunity to contribute, even if just a small amount.
2. Learning experience. I shall gather feedback on lectures, coursework, assessments, and learning resources (of which we seem to have lots) to identify recurring or potential issues and therefore bring suggestions to department staff. As Bioengineering students came from mainly two different cohorts, physics or biology, I would also like to understand where there is a need for additional support or clarity.
3. Keep you informed. I shall communicate the issues raised, the responses received, and any progress made so students can know their feedback is being taken seriously.
Being a Year 1 student, just like you are, I may not be able to solve every single issue myself, but I promise to listen, represent our concerns, and follow up consistently.
