Council Representative (UG Medicine)

Hey I'm Lena, a second year BMB student! At Imperial, it can feel like we have to invest tons of time and energy in order to have a voice in decision-making and to have our views represented. We're left under-represented and feeling powerless to do anything about it. As Council Representative I want to combat exactly that - to reclaim our voice and represent what we all stand for but are too busy to push for, and to hold union accountable by scrutinising policies to ensure they reflect us as a student body.

My priorities:

  • Cost of studying medicine: I will try to raise the financial burden of the longest undergraduate course at Imperial through pushing for sufficient means-tested placement travel support and bursaries.
  • Human rights and Palestine: I will keep human rights and Palestine on the Council’s agenda by supporting motions to ensure ethical decision-making is a priority in the Union’s investments, partnerships and policies.
  • Fair assessments and placements: I will push for faster feedback on mocks, progress tests and results, and for an effective way to report poor placement experiences.

We all believe that transparent, ethical policies that support us should be at the centre of decision-making here at Imperial, and that is what I will use my position to push for.
