A new country. A shared community.
Hi everyone! I’m Yuehan Yang, a first-year EFDS student from southern China, running to be your International Students Network Member. I enjoy tennis, singing soprano in a choir, drama acting and exploring Chinese tea culture. Whether over tea or a walk, I’m always happy to chat!
Moving abroad means navigating unfamiliar systems, building friendships and finding your feet far from home. I want international students to feel supported, connected and heard throughout their time at Imperial.
As a former school student union president, charity project leader and UK–China exchange organiser, I learned to listen across cultures and bring people together.
Working with fellow Network members, I will focus on:
1. Practical support
I will help bring together trusted university guidance on visas, housing, healthcare and financial support, and raise feedback on information students find unclear.
2. Connections across cultures
I will collaborate with cultural societies on affordable meetups and cultural exchanges, welcoming students from all backgrounds to share traditions and make friends.
3. Community beyond Welcome Week
I will advocate for opportunities to connect throughout the year, including during holidays when some students remain in London.
4. A voice with follow-through
I will gather feedback on belonging, language barriers and access to opportunities, raise shared concerns with relevant teams and report back on progress.
You can count on me to listen with care and represent experiences beyond my own.
Vote Yuehan for a more connected international community.
