Yacine Driss
Hi! I’m Yacine, a first-year Biomedical Engineering student, and I’d love to help make CGCU events something students genuinely look forward to.
Engineering at Imperial can be intense, so events are a great opportunity to take a break, meet people outside your course and feel part of a wider community. As Events Officer, I’d like to help organise a varied programme throughout the year: relaxed socials, opportunities to celebrate engineering and events that bring students together across departments. I’d also be keen to work with different societies and listen to what students would actually enjoy, so the programme reflects the range of people in CGCU.
I’d want events to feel welcoming and easy to join, whether you already know lots of people or are coming along for the first time. A good event doesn’t have to be complicated; it just needs to give people a reason to show up, feel included and leave having had a good time. I’d work with the CGCU team to plan events carefully, communicate them clearly and make the most of ideas from across the engineering community.
At school, I helped organise forums, marathons and Model United Nations conferences. These experiences showed me how much I enjoy bringing people together and creating events where they can connect, learn and share ideas. I’d bring that same care and enthusiasm to CGCU.
I’d be excited to help make engineering life at Imperial more connected, enjoyable and memorable.
