CGCU: Events Officer

Starting university in a new country, not knowing anyone, is daunting. The first event you go to changes everything — suddenly you have people to sit with, stories to share, a reason to stay after lectures. I want to be the person who creates that moment for you.

Hi, I'm Audrey, a first-year Civil Engineering student originally from Hong Kong. I came to Imperial several years after moving to the UK, built my network from scratch, and knew that the best parts of university lie outside the lecture theatre.

I've spent most of my time in high school organising events: prom, x'mas parties, summer school programmes for 180+ students, charity weeks raising £1,000+, primary school outreach sessions, etc. I know how to plan, budget, coordinate a team and actually make things happen rather than just talk about them. I also have experience working directly with people of all ages and backgrounds, which means I genuinely care about making events inclusive and fun for everyone, not just one crowd.

What I'm promising you:

  • 🌍 Cross-cultural events: bringing people from different cultures together
  • 🏗️ Industry-linked events: site visits, engineer talks, presentations, and public speaking workshops — the skills nobody teaches you in lectures but every employer asks for
  • ☕ Low-key socials for everyone: not just big loud nights out. Board game evenings, small group dinners, casual hangouts where introverts can actually enjoy themselves too
